VISA RECOMMENDATION LETTER
FOR PTA’S MEMBERS :
To facilitate Proprietors, Partners, Active Directors
of PTA’s member Firms to visit foreign countries
aimed at promoting business/exports through marketing
and establishing business/trade ties with foreign
buyer/Counterparts, PTA recommends their applications
for issuance of requisite visas by the respective
foreign Embassies in Pakistan.
Pakistan Tanners Association has authorized some
of its members to issue recommendatory letters
by the respective zones for such visa letters.
Both the Zonal Offices of PTA issues Visa Recommendation
Letters under a prescribed Form. Any Interested
member may approach the related Zonal Office of
PTA as per their constituent either PTA Southern
Zone Office, Korangi, Karachi or Northern Zone
Office, Lahore for issuance of visa recommendation
letter to be addressed to the concerned Embassy/Consulate
of country(s) which will facilitate in acquiring
the visa for the desired country(s) in favour
of their Directors, Proprietors, Partners, Active
Directors etc.
PTA charges a nominal fee to the tune of @Rs.200/-
per person per country for the visa recommendation
letter.
ANALYSIS CARDS :
Pakistan Tanners Association verifies
consumption of raw materials, accessories like
Hides & Skins, Finished Leather, Zippers,
Buttons etc. imported by PTA’s members to
be kept under Warehouses for re-export after value
addition for Customs purpose so that total imported
stock can be accounted for and wastage thereof
ascertained for adjustment. This verification
is exercised and conducted through the Customs
prescribed Analysis Card maintained by each such
exporter for the required purpose.
Any Interested member want to import any sorts
of components as detailed above, they will prepare
a file containing the sample(s) of the interested
items with necessary specification for the consumption
& price(s) and submit the same alongwith their
covering for attestation by PTA, which will facilitate
them in importing the desired items for utilisation
for re-export purpose only.
In this context, both the Zonal Offices attests
such Files/Analysis Cards. As such any interested
members who would like to import such components
may approach the related Zonal Offices of PTA
either PTA Southern Zone Office, Korangi, Karachi
or Northern Zone Office, Lahore for submission
of files/analysis card for their consideration
of attestation of the same.
HOW TO GET MEMBERSHIP WITH PTA :
There is prescribed criteria in the Memorandum
& Articles of Association of Pakistan Tanners
Association for seeking membership with PTA. There
are two classes of Members ORDINARY and ASSOCIATE
as per categorized here under :-
Persons engaged in tanning industry whose
annual Sale or Exports is Rs. 10 Million or
above can become Ordinary Members.
Persons engaged in allied trade and industry
and persons/firms desirous to become dealer
or commercial exporter of leather or allied
trade and industry can apply for Associate Members.
Any candidate seeking membership of the Association
and willing to abide by the regulations contained
in the Memorandum & Articles of the Association
of PTA shall submit to the PTA’s Zonal Office
in whose jurisdiction the concern is located by
making application in the Form Prescribed to be
duly Proposed by one member and Seconded by another
belonging to same Class together with Prescribed
Admission Fee and Membership Fee. The Application
for membership shall be approved or rejected by
the respective Zonal Committee.
No explanation or reason for rejection of application
shall be given to the applicant concerned nor
any further application is considered again from
the same applicant for a period of one year from
the date of rejection.
Any Interested Firm(s) who will fulfill the PTA’s
criteria as narrated above may approach the related
Zonal Office of PTA either PTA Southern Zone Office,
Korangi, Karachi or Northern Zone Office, Lahore
for getting further details in general and to obtain
a Prescribed Membership Form in particular for onward
submission duly filled-in with requisite information
alongwith necessary papers/documents to related
PTA Zonal Office for consideration of the concerned
Sub-Committee(s) for acceptance or rejection. Click

HOW TO PARTICIPATE IN INTERNATIONAL FAIRS
& EXHIBITIONS :
The International Fairs in different
countries are organized by PTA annually as per
EPB’s allocation with subsidy @50% of total
Space Rent and cost of construction of each stand
for participation of PTA’s intending members
in Pakistan Pavilion of each fair during the year.
PTA disseminates this information through its
Circular amongst its members for participation
in the International Fairs & Exhibitions through
inviting Applications in such fairs. On receipt
of applications the same are scrutinized by Int’l
Fairs Sub-Committee of PTA and necessary request
is then made to the Fair Organiser concerned to
book the required quantum of Space for participants
of Pakistan Pavilion in the said Fair which is
normally 12 Sq.m per stand.
After requisite booking of space selection of
participants is made through balloting by Int’l
Fairs Sub-Committee in the presence of the applicants
concerned and stand numbers allocated to them
as a result of balloting and intimated to all
the participating applicants accordingly.
As per PTA’s policy, an amount of @Rs.10,000/-
should be deducted for each stand and other necessary
expenses proportionately from the 50% subsidy amount
to be payable to each participant concerned after
the Fair upon realizing the Government subsidy from

VERIFICATION OF HIDES & SKINS AND
ITS VALUATION :
PTA’s members import Raw & Wet Blue
Hides & Skins of Cow, Buffalo, Goat &
Sheep from any country of their choice as per
requirement which is allowed duty free. Import
Sub-Committee of the Association has fixed prices
based on market situation of the above articles
of different grades and origins and provided the
same to the Customs (Appraisement) Collectorate
to enable them to clear the import consignment.
However, any item not covered under the PTA’s
fixed valuation, is referred by the Customs for
verification by PTA. Such cases are dealt with
by the Chairman, Import Sub-Committee and necessary
verification is done on merit for the guidance
of the Customs Collectorate for early clearance
of the consignment in question.
RELEASE OF CLAIMS OF SALES TAX AND DUTY
DRAWBACK : Claims of Sales Tax or Duty Drawback
of PTA’s members concerned are processed
and approved by the Sales Tax and Customs (Exports)
Collectorates respectively. Such refunds are made
as per relevant rules and procedures laid down
by the CBR.
In case of any hurdle causing delay in the release
of refund in respect of any member or members
PTA takes up such held up cases with the competent
Authorities and get such refund released.
