. Environmental issues of the tanneries

The Association will continue its efforts effectively in 2011 onward in order to achieve the objective for fighting pollution and to convince the government to dilute NEQS of Tanning Industry and to bring these at par with other development countries and relax NEQS for the next 3 years.

Based on the Strategic Trade Policy 2009-12, following 2-proposals on Environmental issues were sent to TDAP for early implementation for the up-lift of leather Industry

- MATCHING GRANT FOR SETTING UP OF EFFLUENT TREATMENT PLANTS IN INDIVIDUAL TANNERIES
- SHARING 25% FINANCIAL COST OF SETTING UP OF LABS IN INDIVIDUAL TANNERIES

We are in constant contact with the Government emphasizing the need to implement the above decisions so that our members concerned may get due facilities for up-gradation of their tanneries.
