. Project for improvement of hides & skins

The joint project between Pakistan Tanners Association and the University of Veterinary and Animal Science, Lahore for the improvement of Hides and Skins under title “PREVALENCE AND CONTROL OF PATHOLOGICAL CONDITIONS CAUSING SKIN DAMAGE AND CONSEQUENTLY REDUCING ITS MARKET VALUE IN DOMESTIC RUMINANTS OF PUNJAB” has been completed successfully.

PTA has also requested the Government to organize cattle farming on scientific pattern with better curing arrangement and pure drinking water for healthy growth of animals to the advantage of leather industry to make good the loss of live stock in the recent devastating floods.

A proposal has also been sent to the government to control smuggling & export of live animals from Iran & Afghanistan Borders in order to have bulk quantity of hides & skins for tanning industry to earn more foreign exchange.
